METU Economics examines how economic systems function through mathematical models and theory, and is one of the most well-established departments in the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences. Courses such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, econometrics, and international economics form the foundation of the curriculum.
The department requires a strong foundation in mathematics and statistics — METU Economics is known as one of the most analytical/mathematical economics programs in the country. Alongside theoretical models, performing econometric analysis on real datasets is an important part of the curriculum.
